At their Grimsby factory, I helped to change Tioxide’s environmental culture from closed and defensive to open and proactive. This halted the war with Greenpeace and improved the company’s environmental performance and reputation.

 Subsequently I led the site along the certified Environmental Management Systems path to achieve first of all BS7750 (which later became ISO14001) and then EMAS. We were the 14^th in the country to gain BS7750 and we did it on a shoestring at the time of a recession!

For the past 4 years I have been chairman of the Technical and Environment Committee of the Titanium Dioxide Manufacturers Association in CEFIC (The European Chemical Industry Council).
